The Airbus A320 is a narrow-body, turbofan airliner, which first flew in 1987. Soon after, it was then followed by the longer A321 and the shorter A319 and A318 within the family. The A320 can carry 150 passengers over 5,280 or 3,440 km (2,850 or 1,860 nmi) using fuel from wing fuel tanks only. The aircraft has a retractable tricycle landing gear and is powered by two wing pylon-mounted turbofan engines. It also used composite materials for most of its structure and was also the first of its kind to use a fly-by-wire (FBW) flight control system.
