Airbus Helicopter (Eurocopter) H225 (EC225 Super Puma MKII+)

The Eurocopter EC225 Super Puma (now Airbus Helicopters H225) is a long-range passenger transport helicopter, introduced in 2004. The EC225 is the new generation of aircrafts in the civil utility Super Puma family, developed by Eurocopter. The 1973 oil crisis created a demand for advanced rotorcraft to be utilised in offshore extractions. This kickstarted the development for a new aircraft, which had been designated the EC225 name. The new model was a derivative of the predecessing AS332 Super Puma, however with improved rotor technology powered by new, Turbomeca Makila 2A engines, for which a re-designed gearbox was also essential. The EC225 was also developed with a new airframe, reducing noise and vibration. The changes made the EC225 more comfortable and cost-efficient than a number of its competitors. Eurocopter marketed the new EC225 for several different roles, such as public and VIP passenger transport, with the main configuration remaining offshore support.
