The De Havilland Canada DHC-7, widely known as the Dash 7, is a turboprop, STOL performance regional aircraft line. DHC aspired to develop a 40 seater aircraft to compete with other aircrafts being utilised on busier regional airlines, targeting the market not only for outlying routes. The Dash 7 was quieter, however maintaining most aspects of the predecessing Twin Otter. It first flew in 1975, remaining in production until 1988, when De Havilland Canada was purchased by Boeing, and later Bombardier. The DHC-7-101 model has been modified for passanger or cargo loading use, adding a left-side forward cargo door.
