McDonnell Douglas DC-10

The McDonnell Douglas DC-10 is a wide-body airliner manufactured by McDonnell Douglas, with productions commencing in the late 1960s. McDonnell Douglas had aspired to innovate an aircraft to succeed the DC-8 for long range flights, following a requirement presented by American Airliners, for a jet airliner with the capacity to transport over 250 passengers transcontinentally. The DC-10 was a low-wing cantilever monoplane, with several configurations and structures inherited from the predecessing DC models, for cost-effective production. The DC-10 utilised three General Electric C6-6D engines, two wing-mounted and one embedded in the tail and fuselage.
