The Beechcraft 76 Duchess was been introduced in 1978, with the intention to manufacture a low-cost, economical twin-engine aircraft, with primary use in flight schools. The aircraft features aluminium honeycomb construction wings, which are bond-fasted rather than riveted allowing for a lower manufacturing price and improved aerodynamics. The aircraft also innovated the use of a T-tail in the design.
