The HAL Prachand is an Indian multi-role light attack helicopter designed and manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) under Project LCH. Introduced on 3 October 2022, the Prachand has the highest flight ceiling among all attack helicopters.
The Kargil War in 1999 highlighted the need for an armed rotorcraft in high-altitude theatres, leading to the development of the LCH Prachand. Derived from the HAL Dhruv, the LCH underwent a prolonged testing phase, achieving milestones like being the first attack helicopter to land in Siachen.
Limited series production began in 2017, and the HAL Prachand was officially inducted into the Indian Air Force on 3 October 2022.
