Boeing 787

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is a twin engine wide-body jet airliner developed and produced by Boeing Commercial Airplanes, with the project -initially designated 7E7 – being launched in 2004. Boeing focused on developing a more fuel-efficient aircraft, which was to replace predecessing airliners such as the 767, following the Sonic Cruiser project being ceased. Boeing opted for a lightweight construction, primarily encorporating composite materials, with some elements built of aluminium. Twin General Electric GEnx-1B were mounted on the wings, close to the main fuselage and with sound-absorbing material, helping to reduce noise. The first production aircraft were ordered by All Nippon Airways, and after overcoming a number of delays these entered service in 2011.
