Eurocopter Ec 120 Colibri

The Eurocopter (now Airbus Helicopters) EC120 Colibri was single-engine, light utility helicopter, developed and manufactured by by Eurocopter. Originally designated as the P120 rotorcraft, the design came about in the 1980s, as a response to the proposal for a new aircraft to replace the Aérospatiale Gazelle and SA 315B Lama. Due to financial difficulties, the project was not commenced until 1992, when Eurocopter, China National Aero-Technology Import & Export Corporation and Singapore Aerospace Ltd signed a contract to jointly develop the aircraft. The first prototype flown in 1995, with productions beginning in 1997 for the EC120 Colibri. The Colibri featured a three-bladed rotor, powered by a Turbomeca TM 319 Arrius 2F engine, it was a cost-effective and easy-to-control aircraft, with a comfortable cabin, which resulted in increasing demand for the aircraft over time.
